Awarded for providing critical medical support or first aid in a situation that is life-threatening or poses the threat of serious physical injury while on a valid trip. The target of the first aid need not be a Harrimaiac. To qualify as a 'serious threat,' the injury must be one that would likely and eminently result in death if left completely untreated.
Lifesaver is not awarded for assistance with a minor burn, cut, blister, or other typical outdoor injury. Possible qualifying scenarios might included, but are in no way limited to; a broken limb that would leave a hiker stranded in a hypothermia-prone situation, a severe laceration with the potential for significant blood-loss, severe head trauma from a fall or fallen object, etc.
